This quotation is for the Re-controll of our Studer S50-12/1600 cnc cylindrical grinder which is presently equipped with an older GE Mark Century control. the work provided by CNC North  is included in the Base price as well as the machine and additional tooling presently with machine. All optional work is described below and can be selected to be done at an additional cost as detailed below in option section.

  1. Proposal to receive the machine at our CNC North facility, work will consist of the following:

     

                                                                                              

     

     

    Control portion

     

    1. We will utilize a Fanuc 35i-B control system we will add options as required to support the application including:
      1. Axis Control by PMC
      2. Least Input Increment of 0.0001mm, 0.00001″, 0.0001deg
      3. Custom Macro Programming
      4. 640m Part Program Memory
      5. High Speed Serial Bus
      6. Ladder Edit for HSSB Function
      7. Operator’s Panel
      8. Model A I/O modules

         

    2. Axis servo system consisting of the following:
      1. 4 Fanuc AC Digital velocity units for the X, Z, C & C’ axes, using High-Speed Digital Serial interface technology.
      2. 4 Fanuc AC servomotors with high-resolution absolute encoder. All axes will be sized with the proper torque and speed characteristics required for the application. Parameter setup and diagnostics are performed from the CNC display.
      3. Absolute Encoder option for all axes, this will eliminate the need for a zero return after a power shutdown.
      4. Remote feedback capability will be provided to support new scales this will eliminate the absolute position capability we will need to zero that axis after each power down).
      5. All new power and feedback cables.
      6. New motor mounting hardware as required for all axes.

         

    3. Work Spindle control consisting of:
      1. See servo description above C & C’ axes.
      2. Capability within the part program to control both direction and speed. (only of new motor and drive are purchased)
      3. Provisions to support both positions, chuck and tailstock position

         

    4. Wheel Spindle control consisting of:
      1. Analog control option to allow interface to the new Inverter drive sized for the OD Wheel head motor.
      2. The new drive will provide the range required for the application and will be interfaced to the control to allow control through the part program.
      3. Dynamic braking support including a remote resistor will be provided
      4. Constant surface footage control.
      5. Gap Elimination as well as crash detect capability.

        Note: there currently is not an ID Wheel spindle on the machine, software could support if added in the future.

         

    5. Dresser control consisting of:
      1. Interface as required to the existing dresser assembly

         

    6. Work holding control to consist of:
      1. Interface as required to the existing work holding hardware currently on the machine.

         

    7. Open Vision HMI software providing a new level in operator friendliness. The software is provided with many enhancements over today’s standard commercial, control offering without loss of functionality. We are providing the benefits of an Open Architecture System, while still maintaining the reliability of Fanuc through the HSSB interface. Grind specific software has been developed to enhance the shop floor programming capability of the machine, please review the enclosed product profile that describes the grinding features in detail. See specification below of the Industrial PC that will be used in place of the standard 9.5″ LCD.

       

       The Minimum PC configuration will be:

       Some of the other standard Open Vision HMI features include:

      1. On Line documentation including the complete operator manuals.
      2. Configurable Preventative Maintenance schedules.
      3. Security programmability.
      4. Full ladder edit capability from the PC.
      5. Servo tuning and other maintenance functions from the PC.
      6. Pitch error and backlash compensation capability.

         

    8. Remote Manual Pulse Generator in place of the operator pendant version, consisting of:
      1. Axis Select
      2. Increment Select
      3. Manual Pulse Generator (MPG)
      4. 20’ of expandable cable

         

    9. Offline programming software, which will require a Windows compatible PC for generating and updating part programs offline.  The system is designed to allow data transfer either by means of a Local Area Network (LAN) or traditional RS232 serial communications. 

       

    10. A new pendant plate will be fabricated and mounted to the machine in the same area as the current operator’s controls. The pendant will house the 15″ color Industrial PC display, discrete key operator’s panel and miscellaneous controls required to complete the re-control.

       

    11. Programming on the control’s PLC. This includes extensive use of operator messages as well as Custom Macro programs to provide the necessary Dressing and Grinding cycles. Analog input capability will also be provided to allow use of the Gap eliminator function. Interface and support of:

    12. Existing central coolant system with existing remote sump system
    13. Existing or optional new  Lubrication system
    14. Existing or optional new Mist collection system
    15. Existing  Hydraulic power unit
    16. All other existing support equipment on the machine
    17.  

       

    18. The existing enclosure will be reused we will either discrete mount or provide a new sub-panel. The Panel will house the CNC control, Servo drives, Wheel drive, Model A I/O and any new support equipment required.

       

    19. The existing exposed wiring will be removed and replaced; the wire way replacement and junction boxes will be reviewed and replaced as needed.

       

    20. Installation of the above equipment will be provided at our Claremont, NH facility

       

    21. Startup and a one part runoff will be performed at our Claremont, NH facility.

       

    22. Startup and two days of operator training will be provided at your customer’s facility.

       

    23. Two sets of documentation consisting of the following will be provided on CD, as well as one printed set of CNC Engineering generated documentation:
      1. Electrical schematics
      2. PLC schematics
      3. Mechanical assembly drawings
      4. Parameter list
      5. FANUC Operator manual (hard copy not included)
      6. FANUC Maintenance manual (hard copy not included)

         

         

        Mechanical portion

         

  2. We will rig the machine from the Customer supplied truck at our Claremont, NH facility.
  3. The existing electrical hardware on the machine will be removed and replaced per the retrofit description described above.   1. Linear scale replacement for the axes consisting of:
    1. Fagor scales and mounting hardware required to adapt new scales to the machine tool.
    2. Absolute interface eliminating the need for zero return after power shut-off
    3. Remote feedback capability that will allow interface to the existing remote feedback systems currently on the machine (as required).
    4. New feedback cables and interface electronics to the Fanuc controls.
    5. Scale mounting hardware as needed.
    6. Installation and debug
    7. Air purge system to provide positive pressure assuring no contamination

       

  1. Base proposal includes the following work to be done at our Claremont, NH facility.

  • Electric motor with cylinder sized per the door opening requirements minimum stroke length will be 36”.
  • Sensor system to assure safe operation, door will auto retract if there is an obstruction when trying to close the door.
  • Miscellaneous mounting hardware plan is to mount the hardware on the outside of the guard attached to the top of the machine.
  • Self-contained control system (not integrated to existing control system)
  • Two-hand push button operation will mount two buttons on the side of the existing pendant enclosure.

Terms:             30% deposit, 60% upon acceptance at CNC North, and 10% at completion of startup at your customer’s facility

Delivery:           It is estimated it will take 12 weeks to prepare the control package, once started it will take 4 weeks to finish the install and startup.
